Who we are
We work with the organisations that deliver health programmes and services at scale, and with the commissioners who fund them.
Northwood Metrics is a small team of statisticians and quantitative researchers. Every member holds a doctorate and currently holds an academic post at a United Kingdom university, including positions at the University of Oxford, the London School of Economics, University College London, King's College London and the University of Essex. The methodological training the practice draws on is the same as that behind their academic research — the evaluation of programmes and policies using observational and administrative data — and so are the standards of specification, documentation and reporting.
The work spans health programmes and services: weight management, diabetes prevention and lifestyle behaviour change, for commercial and third-sector providers, commissioners and public bodies in the United Kingdom and the United States. Engagements have run from a single analysis against a deadline through to analyses carried into peer-reviewed publication with the provider as co-authors. The practice does not undertake health economic modelling or cost-utility analysis, clinical trial statistics, regulatory submissions, or qualitative and process evaluation; where a piece of work needs them, that is said at the outset and the work is carried out alongside specialists in those fields.
Members of the team undertake work for Northwood Metrics in a personal capacity. No engagement is carried out on behalf of any university, no university endorses this practice or its work, and the affiliations above describe the background of the team rather than any party to an agreement.
